Trying to figure out how to play mancala in text, but it's pretty awkward no matter how I try to frame it

I like to play mancala. I want to learn some of the more complex versions with 24 pits instead of just 12.

non-programmers are an important part of open source projects. non-programmer contributions are valid and useful and not second tier or otherwise less valuable.

it's easy to say programmers are the only value-add when you're fortunate enough to have enough non-programmers that you can take them for granted.

if you take away the feature requests, translations, and general chatter - many OSS projects would have never been more than flawed, narrow use case tech demos.

A great thread by @garfiald on the history of French colonialism, the regulation of religious garments, and a recommendation that people read Fanon.

My summary can't do the thread justice, it's good stuff. And I really do need to read Fanon at some point.

CW: Islamophobia

At some point the funny bots stop being funny because they're just repetitive. Even sbnkalny got old for me after a while (but when sbnkalny hit gold it hit gold).

Most of them are far less sophisticated than sbnkalny.

Hm. I like when Twitter shrinks threads so that you don't see each and every self reply in reverse order (which makes it confusing and hard to read).

But if you don't list each one, it makes it harder to find. And if you just move the thread to the most recently updated time it breaks chronology.

There's gotta be a way to fix this.

LRT: That's actually really interesting, I didn't know that and was really considering link shorteners. Good To Know.

Want to use a link shortener on #Mastodon?

Don't! :blobsurprised: All links in Mastodon posts count for 23 characters, no matter how long they really are.

Everyone hates group projects.

I'm taking a class that is one huge group project, using Scrum.

It sucks.

@aral @GinnyMcQueen @AceNovo

Wow, @aral, this really is a callous take. The people criticizing you about this take are absolutely right.

Yes, the misogynist culture at Google is a symptom of a larger problem, but that doesn't mean you get to mock the people who are fighting against the misogyny.

You can point out hypocrisy without being a complete dick.
