I found openmarker but it looks like a long dead project.

it would take a huge coalition to get a project of this size to become successful.

@switchingsocial there is also some opportunity for federation. Say at the city, state, or country level. It would require some additional standards outside of AP in order to be consumable by broader services (I.e search engines or open street maps) though.

Generally the easiest way to get projects if that scope off the ground is to piggy back on another already successful project that's related in some way. In this case, maybe you could layer it on as an extra set of information in OpenSteetMap or something.

@Blort @switchingsocial yeah I was thinking of the same thing. I’m gonna reach out to openstreetmap team to see if they have any desire to open up that avenue.

At least for restaurants, Google reviews have gotten pretty good but then that's, you know, Google. :(
