does anyone have recommendations for documentaries about ancient civilizations? i am more interested in tools, culture, daily life, than aristocrats+ wars.

i would prefer radical or thoughtful points of view, rather than the usual "white dude explains someone else's culture".

I really enjoyed the "civilizations" remake by the BBC, as it explores civilizations through their art. While the BBC is the definition of "old white dude explaining other cultures", I don't recall it being too bad for this series. Should be available on Netflix in the US.
