I have this feeling where I should be able to reduce my start-up time, but that would probably mean gradually rewrite it from scratch and… yeah, you probably get it.

@lthms you mean you actually quit emacs? I do that only if my laptop is out of battery ;)

@hannesm @lthms Let's see your M-x emacs-uptime ;-) Mine was just a measly 6 days and 13 hours. Must have been because of an OS upgrade.

@hannesm I probably don’t use it exactly as I should, but to be honest yeah, I basically quit/start emacs dozens of time per day.

@lthms I did not mean "you're not using it as you should", I was only wondering. it is fine to use tools the way it works for you :)

@hannesm I didn’t interpret it otherwise! :) yet I think not any tool can be used in any way (does it makes sense?) so the more I age, the more I tend to try to identify “the ways” of a given tools to decide whether or not I shall use it

@hannesm @lthms that’s the galaxy brain move.
you can also run the emacs server/client thing

@lthms Do it gradually on an existing code. use-package is very helpful for that. My .emacs has ~3.5k code lines and around 200 (use-package …) entries—it starts under two seconds.
