For what it's worth, I was underpaid—like, tens of thousands below what would be expected at my level of education and experience—while working at one of the world's biggest and best-selling game developers, in one of Canada's most expensive cities.

Was also quietly discouraged from bringing up my, and others', salaries; my questions and emails regarding them went unanswered.

Being paid less, and being expected to work more, on something for which you are passionate is not a measure of your dedication or passion or team spirit—it's your employer taking advantage of you.

Do not let discussions about fair compensation go unanswered or be divided into one-on-one discussions.
