People of the #fediverse who see CBD oil!
How do you use it?
What's your current dose?
And what effects do you feel it's had on you?
@doodler hmm. Mine just doses it in drops. 😂
Thanks though! Does she take it every day?
@maloki
She does!
The oil itself can come in different concentrations - usually measured by how much is in the whole bottle, which makes things harder. We sold it at my old work and 60mg/bottle was about average, some went as high as 600mg
@maloki
So, uh, if you have any questions I can give you the helpful cashier answer lol
@doodler do you think it's safe to put on a cup of tea, or is it better to just take it orally as the instruction, and then drink tea after?
@maloki
You can def add to tea or coffee or whatever you like!
@doodler that's neat!
👆 Can I get some boosts on this question?
@maloki I just started it yesterday, in little 5mg softgel pills. 2 at a time helps lessen pain in my lower back and I felt like, a lot less anxiety?
But that's been one time, so I can't say what it'll be like long term. But... seems promising!
@electrotamitha I just got the oil yesterday. It recommends starting on a lower dose, so that's what I've done. But I tried to take it 2 times yesterday, and today I mostly got distracted.
@maloki This is honestly all new to me. For years I avoided anything to do with cannabis, even "hemp" derivatives. But I also figured if it was for sale in a local market, it couldn't contain any THC.
(I live in Kentucky.)
@electrotamitha the one I bought is Swedish, tastes like garbage and has had to change name from CBD oil to hemp oil.
I felt I wanted to invest though, and try it out regularly for a longer period of time.
@maloki Orally. About 10 drops. Relief of anxiety and chronic back pain.
@drwho thank you! I have back pain which is also pinching the Sciatic nerve. So this is useful information!
@drwho that said, do you take 10 drops every day, or when you think you need it?
@maloki Mostly when I think I need it. That hasn't been very often lately.
@maloki it took the edge off a little for me, but not enough to be worth the £ & hassle in the long term. The most efficient way we found to use it was to freeze doses mixed with a little bit of coconut oil as a carrier–e.g, in rubber thimbles, or the cut off bulbs of plastic pipettes–& use it as a home-made suppository :>
@paralithode interesting! I was actually wondering if there were more efficient ways than orally.
@maloki I use an oil-based tincture from a local farm-to-dispensary group. ~17mg per 20-drop dose.
By itself, I find it has some very subtle mood-leveling effects. They're hard to describe, but it can occasionally be just enough of a push to get over amotivational inertia.
With THC, it makes an enormous difference in the quality of the experience. Much more relaxing, far less paranoia and anxiety (both of which I'm prone to).
tagging @muninn on this one, he's more of an expert than me.
@maloki I use #CBD as vaped hash oil from a cartridge pen. It works by itself for physical discomfort & #anxiety, or together with a low amount of THC as a behavioral activator when I'm anxious & feeling deadlocked. I find that I either have to vape frequently or vape a lot for persistent mh symptoms, a bit less so for physical discomfort - active period 30-90 minutes. It's really a great substance. Currently swapping cartridges of pure-ish CBD and 3:1 CBD:THC. #medicalmarijuana
@maloki
My mom started using it for her knee and shoulder pain and it's helped a lot! Had the bonus of toning down her anxiety, too. Don't recall what her dosage was, probably 40 or 60mg?
