@mastohost Any plans to add Keybase support? I see a lot of Mastodon instances showing up, and I’d love to verify my profile here.

@mike from my end all is ready for Keybase.io, you need to ask them to include your instance as a valid Mastodon instance on their end.

@mastohost That’s great! They outline some steps here: keybase.io/docs/proof_integrat

In the request, I have to include either a config file or public url for Keybase verification. Can I get that from you? Or, is the URL just the URL for the instance?

@mike FIrst time I came across that and several other instance hosted with me already have it in place. Ins't there a work around?

@mastohost That article is probably pre-Mastodon/Keybase rollout then. I’ll reach out and see what they say. :)

@mike @mastohost Keybase has always been terrible at keeping documentation up to date (or even writing it in the first place).

The link @mike gave is the one they link in their blog post about Keybase integration: keybase.io/blog/keybase-proofs Apparently as part of the process each instance admin needs to reach out to a particular Keybase user (presumably a staff member) to get added?!

@joeld @mike @mastohost Also, they mention that they're not interested in adding small sites, only the big ones with lots of users. To which I call foul.

@dl @mike @mastohost I questioned the whole approach at the time. They will let you verify yourself as being connected any website you own, no matter how tiny it is. But they want to whitelist mastodon instances? When the whole point of mastodon is that there be many small sites talking to each other? I do not get it.
