I will be testing some custom changes to reduce platform load caused by processing videos and GIFs.
This will be a gradual rollout and it will be reverted if any problem is detected.
There will be a downtime of less than 30 seconds during code change.
Please let me know if you run into any issues with federated GIFs or videos in the coming days.

These changes for processing videos and GIFs are now active for every Mastodon server hosted on Masto.host.
There have been no reported issues and from the backend it all looks good. Also, no peak load monitored on the platform. So, up until now it looks like a good solution.
