as someone who grew up in that magical and apparently historically aberrant period where mostly standalone, usually not networked personal computers were the norm, I'm always weirded out by the word "edge computing" e.g. https://os.mbed.com/blog/entry/uTensor-and-Tensor-Flow-Announcement/ desktop computers are hardly ever mentioned as "edge" devices in this context, but most of them effectively are (lacking the GPUs necessary to train ML models). in this metaphor, using your own device to do "computing" now is literally an "edge" case
someone who is good at decentralization please help me budget this. my conference is dying
@darius yeah – as far as I can tell it's trying to do the necessary academic groundwork to establish something people can cite to prove that Actually Building Anarchist Systems is "real" HCI research
been looking forward to this paper on “anarchist HCI” & it’s every bit as good as I was hoping. would love to collaborate with someone on extending this work into AI, not least because I suspect a lot of people would currently view “anarchist AI” as a contradiction in terms https://ironholds.org/resources/papers/anarchist_hci.pdf
@selfsame definitely! but I'm more looking forward to the arrival of *hand-crafted* ConceptNet memes
@selfsame can't wait till meme culture discovers ConceptNet and we get a whole artistic movement of avant-garde ontology memes
@HTHR ever tried listening to the live versions in roughly chronological order? you can trace its gradual evolution from the rather mediocre original album version to the Official Song of Solarpunk
I’m looking to contract somebodies to make 2D game assets (sprites, tiles, animations, etc) and sfx/music for a mixed top scrolling shooter/side scrolling platformer tutorial game for a 2D game engine development class. These somebodies would keep copyright, but I’d ask for the assets to be licensed for use in free/OSS games.
