I with figuring out how to name a software for running a -based link aggregation website (like mastodon but for link sharing) - think of it as a decentralised reddit.

I personally like "The Loom" the most but, as a non-native speaker, i have some concerns about if it makes any sense.

Any ideas much appreciated!

(btw: software is ~50% done, stay tuned!)

@mbajur The Loom is a really annoying mall in Bushwick Brooklyn. I am excited to hear your working on a linking service with !

@wakest and you think this mall is so popular that it's a completely horrible idea to name anything like that? :)

@mbajur maybe if it was just called Loom? but that also sounds quite similar to Loomio.

how about something like Linklog AP and then you could use the shortened version as a name LLAP

@wakest yeah, loomio similarity is strong in this one, even with `the`. On the other hand, LLAP sounds SUPER NERDY, i would love to avoid that :)

@mbajur how about calling it Delicious? Or Extra Delicious as a homage to del.icio.us

@mbajur
swarm? Also what are you writing it in?

@debugninja swarm seems nice but it's heavily taken - by docker sub-project and by people behind foursquare.com (swarmapp.com)

i'm writing it in ruby (on rails) and vue.js on frontend

@mbajur
Burst? Swap? I just think of names related to a lot of people actively clicking the link :)

Let me know if you want any programming help (I’m a ruby dev).

@debugninja oh, i see. I was rather thinking about something related to creating something from small pieces, that's the reason behing choosing the loom in the first place :)

It's great you want to help. I will definitely ping you when the project will be published on github

@mbajur 'Weft'?

After one of the main components in weaving: warp & weft.

Weave is another nice word.

@kevinbeynon i REALLY DO like that !! thank you 🙇
