Getting old was a mistake
Really fundamental thing:
Data abuse/misuse etc. may have swung 2016 US presidential election and Brexit.
Prove that, and those results should be invalidated.
It is really funny watching the fallout in the Brazilian media. Ex-president Dilma called the show "lies" and "false news", director Padilla responded by saying that there is a notice at the beginning of each episode saying that it is a work of fiction, and that "if Dilma knew how to read we wouldn't have this problem."

One of my superiors asked me to tell her the names of all of the people who are sending me illogical requests and/or asking inane, repetitive questions.
Her reason for asking this is that she wants to put project managers and/or higher-level managers in front of these clients so they don't bombard me with requests.
My work-life balance might be getting a whole lot better real soon!
They also told me to take a mental health day tomorrow so I'll try to enjoy the day.

As an outside observer, I find it difficult to imagine how AR-15s could possibly help concerned citizens defend themselves against a tyrannical government. Sure the 2nd amendment needs to be amended to allow the bearing of stinger missiles, Apache helicopters and tactical thermonuclear weapons?

A blip I'd missed on the whole Cambridge Analytica thing:
Facebook *hired* Joseph Chancellor, one of the two directors of Global Science Research, the 'company' that fed Facebook data to CA. (The other being Aleksander Kogan, an actual Cambridge University psychologist A very odd naming coincidence, perhaps?)
Facebook hired Chancellor in November 2015. They heard about the CA thing in December 2015.
They kept Chancellor on. As a psychologist.

According to my e-mail archives, my Facebook account deletion was submitted on 4th of October, 2012.
I would love to say that it did not create a sense of social isolation when I was at university but it absolutely did.
Thankfully I had the folks over on IRC and EntropyNet so it wasn't so bad. :)
I manage okay without it but for some folks it might be more difficult to disconnect so be considerate when asking folks to disconnect cold turkey from their social network.
I make stuff. Sometimes I post pictures of it.
I go places. Sometimes I post pictures of those places or the conveyances that take me there. This may include my feet.
I have a dog. Dogs seem to like me. Sometimes I post pictures of dogs.
I drink beer. Sometimes I post pictures of beer.
I like my work. Sometimes my coworkers are a trial and I rant about them.
I like humor. Sometimes I will attempt it. Occasionally that works.
I like the clientele here.

I'm happy that we have all these new people join. It makes me hopeful that the landscape of the web can yet change for the better.
