> It is not that social media does evil things. It is that social media is evil.
What we call #SocialMedia are evil. These attention-harvesting #advertisement platforms have little to do with social as normal people would understand it. You might say they are "social consumption media" i.e. platforms that are *dependent* on the need for people to engage in social relationships. Similar to how a combustion engine consumes fossil fuels. They deplete the supply of social.
But we fedizens of the #Fediverse.. we see that there is a different way to do social.
Not social *media*, but social *networking* as an extension of social relationships that exist in real life, to our new online world where we also spend a bunch of our time nowadays.
And we too see there might be ways to earn a living with upholding this federated universe. But in decent ways with the values and culture we hold dear. E.g. by hosting services for others so they can participate.
Livestream notifications have been added to Podverse iOS and Android 🥳
Podcasters can now broadcast live to all podcast apps by adding the Podcasting 2.0 live item tag to their RSS feed.
"New episode" notifications have also been added.
I've been pretty vocal about using my following and resources to help spread awareness of new projects and developers, I know what it's like to start from nothing and "compete" with mastodon, peertube, pleroma, etc.
What I don't get is how distant projects are from each other, I think the larger projects should make more of an effort to help out smaller projects.
Well what do you know? Roku approved the Owncast Directory channel!
Now all you Roku people can browse and watch on the big screen, if you want.
We are very much looking forward to many wonderful things that federation within forges can support.
Reply could be as simple as the classic “+1”

Okay, so I don't think anything is going to change in the poll anymore.
So here we go:
I'm going to properly introduce the #FediverseWiki on New Years Eve.
Until then I'd like some help with the "What is..." pages on the different Fediverse projects, especially on comparing them to their famous counterparts.
