@meneer Also, why do they talk about a 'portion' of a password here? Do they store passwords 50/50 plain text/hash or what?

@MatejLach beats me... old lanman hash was 7char hash + 7char hash. if second part was blank, the second part of pw hash would already be known, always the same hash. That would explain it ๐Ÿค”

@meneer On my part of the planet it does indeed as it includes illegall hacking tools like netcat, ping and nmap...

@ckeen and how about Android, the superspy operating system, used by Google snoops...

@ckeen we may understand that. But poliyicians and da's may not ๐Ÿ˜‰

@meneer hacked a raspberry pi SD card like this the other day ๐Ÿ˜‚

@meneer I've switched my terminals from gray-on-black to black-on-gray so that I'm no longer considered a hacker :D

Hilarious! Then, we are special people, like martians or people with high IQ?!

They were probably using a Linux LiveCD with ntpasswd loaded. We used it quite a bit in the .mil to reset local admin passwords.

@fewl I used to play around with Peter Nordahl's nt pw reset tool. on a 3.5 inch diskette, magic as long as sam wasn't encrypted ๐Ÿ˜
