Every now and then I need to dig into a codebase I don't own written in a language I don't understand to solve a problem I've never seen before. And sometimes when that happens I see logging set up top of main() before everything else. And when I see that, I know it's going to be OK, I know I'm going to be able to solve it.

If you've built your software knowing that a stranger somewhere, someday, will need comments, logs and other breadcrumbs to help them understand how it works and figure out a problem you didn't foresee: I see you, and I love you for it.

@readsteven I don’t know who said it first, but: if you’ve ever wanted to travel back in time to fight a younger version of yourself, software is the job for you.
