Every time I try to reconsider android, it goes like this:

1) factory reset and bring the device up to current patch level

2) walk the apps permissions list and turn off almost everything

3) set up an account on the device and grant reasonable-sounding permissions as usage progresses.

Invariably the place I give up is when something from Google starts spouting grabby nonsense. This time around, it was "the SMS app won't work if Google Play Services can't access body sensors."

@mhoye never had such issues with #LineageOS or #FairphoneOpen ...
The trick is not having #PlayServices installed in the first place. All apps in #FDroid work just fine without #GAPPS

@uniq I didn’t realize Lineage had an A1 port, I’ll need to give that a try.
