Gutter in that I feel like humanity has no redeeming qualities and we all deserve to die in a fire. Not gutter like lewd... I wish.

My brain has been in the gutter. It occurred to me that maybe a doggo would be good for me? Is my brain in the gutter bc of everything, no doggo, or both?

ughhhhh adulting is hard. I know there may be others that'll work int he future... probably... but I really fell in love with that one (which yeah, you're not supposed to do with real estate).

I love my neighborhood, and the stress of the ultra fast downsizing for a tiny house thing made me chicken out. Ughhhh really hoping I didn't just make a huge mistake.
This is the first one in like 5 years of searching that has proximity, price, need to haves, and nice to haves all at once, but the fear of having a phone call from a neighbor displace me proved to be too much.

@sev does Sanca have an open gym? Thinking if I end up moving to the south end I could stay at the VA but practice in the south...

Pretty much everything but financing has fallen into place for this tiny house.
I have a place and the homeowners have offered to charge me half what I anticipated, I have a tiny with both my nice and need to haves in my area at reasonable price...
It's in a part of town I don't prefer... But hell it's mobile and I'd have a giant yard to myself.

Conversely also considering figuring out solar arrays...
The tiny I'm currently looking out has a mini split and I hear that running AC can really tax a power system.

He made me actually understand how food and culture is so closely intertwined. When I went to Europe years ago I had prepped and temporarily reintroduce meat into my diet so I wouldn't be restricted in my experience. I wanted to fully engage.
I will miss him.

He shouldn't have been someone to get to do what he did. He was some drugged out kid in the service industry who hated chef school. But he hustled and made it work, wrote a book that people loved and started to get a show where he of all people could travel the world eating. He'd highlight parts of cultures that many travel and food shows would never touch. He'd call out gentrification and social inequality. He celebrated immigrants and chefs, and those actually doing the work to feed us.

His story telling led me to believe that I knew him in a sense that celebrity often makes us communally have a large one sided relationship. I always just wanted to hang out with him and talk, eat something good, and hear about his experiences. For years I fell asleep to his shows because I had watched them so many times that they engaged my brain enough to make it shut up, but not enough to keep me awake. He was cocky and humble and got to be an unlikely hero.

Celebrities come and go and I don't think I cry for many of them but this one hurts. I loved his attempts to bring the humanity of all through travel and food to the surface. His travel shows often highlighted the hypocrisy of US imperialism. He wouldn't shy away from the impacts of our government or other corrupt systems on normal or oppressed people. He had an episode where he highlighted the simple desires of a few fa'afafines to modestly thrive in society. On the fucking travel channel

So Anthony Bourdain killed himself and this is legit hitting me hard. For a while I consumed all the media he did, read his books, read the books he said influenced him. I admired him for embodying the anti hero, the food snob who loved indulgent junk food. He had a compassion about him where he saw people's humanity and tried to share it with the world. Was he problematic at times? Yes. But he called people out on bullshit, was 80s gritty new York realness, and respected queer folks.
