I'm not sure when I decided that seed stitch was my favorite thing, but I just did socks with a seed stitch rib and cuff, and now, apparently, I'm doing seed stitch trim on the sweater that I'm making.
I thought that I hated seed stitch. I'm baffled. #knitting
(Also, I will be fine, I have *even more* prednisone and will see a pulmonologist if this doesn't clear up in the next week or two.)
I've been real sick lately--sick enough I went to urgent care (*after* a week of antibiotics and prednisone) and they freaked out bc I sounded like I was in congestive heart failure (I'm not)--but I've spent basically all my time updating my ravelry and browsing what people have been doing, and it's been really satisfying. I finally uploaded some projects! I added my stash, tiny tho it is! I finished #knitting the hiking socks I was working on, and started new socks, and feel very accomplished.
I'm having a lot of feelings, lately, about basically everything, and I'm so frustrated because I feel like there's nowhere appropriate to put any of them. I know I say this all the time, but I miss livejournal.
Haha, who just had to tear out 90 minutes of knitting (the ENTIRE HEEL of this stupid sock) because they miscounted in the very first row of the heel?
This me. It me. /o\
So for #yarnuary, the week one challenge is color, and I'm SO PLEASED because I've just bought yarn for my first ever multicolored shawl. I've done lots of lace ones, but never colors, so my goal this week is to figure out what sort of design I'm going to do, and maybe swatch a bit.
In the meantime, tho, I'm gonna finish #knitting these socks, because I'd really like warmer feet. (And then cast on some more socks for my kid. It never ends.) https://mastodon.social/media/hJ3d9YA_u7QAjl0ZtZ0 https://mastodon.social/media/-Q02QdP6yveKwc0VnhY
I really wish I were better at telling when people are making a sincere request for information vs making a rhetorical one.
Hey, so, just in time for summer heat and/or seasonal affective disorder, depending on your hemisphere, I wrote a cookbook about how to feed yourself with as little time/effort as possible.
You can preorder it for Kindle here: https://www.amazon.com/Cooking-Terrible-Misha-Fletcher-ebook/dp/B078KCBNVM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514129547&sr=8-1&keywords=cooking+is+terrible and you can order ePub/PDF here: https://gumroad.com/l/kwOuS
I feel weird promoing myself, but I basically wrote this for people like me--disabled, or mentally ill, or both--and I really hope that people will find it helpful.
I keep seeing people talking about finding a Mastodon instance that relates to who you are as a person, and I'm feeling a bit weird that I'm on .social--both because I'm not especially social, and because it feels like most of the people I follow have more of an identity-based instance.
I'm not totally sure what to do with this, I guess, so I'm just saying it out loud to see if that changes anything.
psa if you don't know how to tag a vent or don't have the mental energy to figure it out, "(-)" is i think usually pretty well understood
Knitted a swatch earlier and am amused at my own consistency. Tried 2 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm needles, washed and blocked, and discovered the only difference in gauge is that the 2 mms got one more row per inch than the other two.
Belatedly, thank you all for understanding what I meant by "corn" (cone, obviously) of yarn. I can't even blame autocorrect--I just forgot how to words. /o\
Oh, y'all, I'm so excited--friends of mine have gifted me a whole corn of lovely grey yarn, and I'm going to knit myself an enormous, cosy sweater.
I've never been able to afford a whole sweater's worth of yarn before, so this is a first, and WILDLY exciting.
I discovered this last night on twitter (from @adampowers), and it delighted me so much that I'm repeating it here.
If you're on Android, open up google assistant, and tell it lumos. Then: nox.
I just did it again and it is still 100% delightful. Sometimes the nerds of the world really come through. <3
Friends, talk to me, maybe, about your preferred use of cw? I keep wanting to talk about things here, but I'm afraid I'll fail to cut things and anger or hurt or upset people.
Is there an agreed upon practice? Is this a thing where we're still hashing out what the norms are? Is there room for variation in use? Thoughts appreciated!
This is a #GlitterShip appreciation post! Because GlitterShip is fucking awesome, okay? Do you like #sciencefiction or #fantasy or whatever other variety of #speculativefiction with awesome #lgbt characters and storylines? Did you only just realize now that I mentioned it how much you might want that?
If yes, GlitterShip is the #sff #podcast and #anthology for you, my #queer frendos and queer-friendly folks also.

(help, help, my aching heart.)
So...last night was kinda rough, huh? In case you're in need of distraction, I did a giant thread about calming/soothing/distracting #games, and then I storified it here: https://storify.com/mishafletch/calming-games
Please take care of yourselves.
So rude, working instead of petting #cat?? https://mastodon.social/media/z_zKGLrP8XEBZ2Bbqcc
Her majesty would like to know why am not petting cat? https://mastodon.social/media/4F8aKhtkLL3UqteDwv8
