Eine politische Linke, die Technologie nicht auch als Werkzeug der Befreiung und Durchsetzung einer menschenwürdigeren Welt zu denken bereit ist, hat keine Zukunft.

So a lot of folks have been asking me about the social issues w/ Gitlab.

GitLab has a complicated history here, but during the gamergate heydey they hosted a lot of GG's content. They subsequently kicked out the main GG repositories *after* public outcry and organized efforts, but originally made no efforts to.

And while it's been largely deleted, quietly some GL engineers were telling people to move over to "flee sjw censorship."

Sadly much of this data is buried now. Feel free to ignore me.

On my way to the local Battlebond prerelease.

One more ad:

Me and a few others are writing a new OStatus implementation (in Elixir) compatible with GS and Mastodon called Pleroma.

It's still in early stages but it is usable already. If you want to check it out, take a look at https://pleroma.soykaf.com, where you can see the federated and local timeline without logging in, or can make an account if you want to test it more.

opensym.org/os2016/proceedings reminder that there exists a research paper dryly examining how different Linus Torvalds' Asshole Emails are from a regular person also involved in a leadership position on the Linux Kernel Mailing List

Today I quickly put together this tool that has been doing pretty well: find a working Sci-Hub domain.

whereisscihub.now.sh/

Tip: whereisscihub.now.sh/go immediately redirects you to a working domain.

It's February again, so it's time for my yearly reminder to folks that this amazing html5 canvas color cycle demo, reminiscent of the video games I grew up with, still exists and should be cherished.

Apparently ads are now scraping usernames and passwords that are autofilled thanks to password managers.

theverge.com/2017/12/30/168298

(Use a password manger, but be sure auto-fill is off.)

I’m at , anyone feel free to let me know if you want to chat!

What if you could follow a Web site that publishes its content in an Atom feed in Mastodon, the same way you follow people?

And you could boost items from that feed, and your own followers would see them just like they do when you boost a toot?

In other words, what if we cross-bred a social network with a feed reader?
