Hi, I'm Michael. I'm a mathematics professor and a huge fan of webcomics. The latter is the main reason I'm on social media. On birdsite, I curate the Twitter webcomics list:

My family & I are on our way to France. We''l be touring the Loire Valley for about 8 days. Then we go to Lisbon where I will be doing research for a couple of weeks. Then back to France, visiting Paris for about 5 days. Then home.
Some of you may have seen this, but starting tomorrow, I'm taking a break from birdsite for a month because it's driving me bonkers. I'll still be here though.

Good morning masto, today I have to attend a graduation luncheon where I will smile and nod while students introduce me to their parents. At least there will be food.

I guess if I *might* make a comic in this style I should probably work on shading that’s more light-source based and less depth-focused (like with my regular cel shading). So that’ll be something to practice.

I really should be asleep but I wanted to finish this, I’ve had the lines for this for months and just haven’t been able to figure out how to color it. Finally got it done.
Ugh, I'm so glad the current term is ending. My brain has just been fried. After this, I just have to spend June dealing with budget and other stuff, and then I'm off for vacation and research visits.
Sorry to be talking work so much lately, but it's been on my mind, and I feel a bit safer venting here than on birdsite, where, as I think many of you know, you kind of have to be "on" all the time. Here I can be a webcomics enthusiast when I want to be, but I can also be other things.
I don't know if I've talked about it here, but besides being a mathematics professor, I'm currently the chair of my department. (So you can sit on me, get it? hurhurhur.) And I absolutely hate it. I took the job mostly because it was my turn and I wanted to get it over with.
The good news is that I have one month left! My term ends on June 29 (the last Friday of the month) and then I'M FREEEEEEEE!
I'll miss the salary bump but that is literally all I will miss.
I haven't had real problems with anxiety in several months, but HOO BOY, did I have a doozy of a spell with it this morning. That knotted feeling in the pit of your stomach, the whole works. No discernible cause out of the ordinary; I'm no more busy than usual. I sort of took it out on birdsite, griping about "LRT"s and bullshit like that.
Luckily, a very good friend helped me through it and I feel fine now. But woof, where the heck did that come from?
The older son just came up with the name "Mocha del Infierno" as a name for a coffee shop and even though it's kind of an obscure pun, I'm so damn mad I didn't think of it first
I have so many things on my to-do list that my brain is now in "what if I just sat here and messed around on the internet until bedtime" mode
It is with great regret that I inform you that I am now up
