You hear about a mass shooting, and you slump in your chair knowing that nobody's going to take substantive measures to prevent it from happening again. In fact, they'll prevent those preventative measures. It's soul crushing, knowing that you're in a slow death spiral and that nothing you do will change the trajectory.
Our elected officials are so closed off from the rest of us that it starts to feel like there's no point to writing, calling, protesting, or anything else. It instills the kind of rage and helplessness that makes you think about taking a swig from something you found under the sink. (Not actually going to do this; I'm pretty sure the Formula 409 tastes terrible.)
The reason people voted for Trump in the first place (I mean, aside from the racism) is that they wanted their government to listen to them. It was a rejection of the status quo, which is why Bernie polled so well in 2016. Yet three years later, the government has never felt so detached from its constituents. Nobody listens, nobody cares. Yet another example of a swindle from the con-artist in chief. Promise the world and give your customers a fist full of dirt.
Slightly concerned about A Shit Pile's Orwellian Doublespeak Bill for Preserving Donald Trump's Delicate Feelings. It always feels like these fuckers get whatever they want regardless of how much resistance there is to it. https://boingboing.net/2019/08/09/cda230.html
Because we could all use another social network! Right? Right? Hello...?
