HDR: PQ/ST2084 conveys abs luminance L at mastering, but it’s not necessarily sensible for consumers to experience the content at L. BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, BACKLIGHT, CELLLIGHT, OLEDLIGHT: All are all used in consumer tv; 0% of consumers know their effects on image. On an LCD tv, BACKLIGHT does to video what LOUDNESS does to audio. In physics terms, LCD tv control should be called LIGHT OUTPUT. What I'm wrestling with in HDR: What should we encourage tv vendors to call the LIGHT OUTPUT control?

Really great workshop on Sat by David Stump ASC: Practical Lighting for CG Artists (VES Toronto/Sheridan SIRT), kudos to all involved!
