One common retort to people who donʼt like overt political commentary in their art/entertainment is that “all art is political.” While this is true, it is also true that there is a kind of art which those people do not perceive as political because it puts forth its political claims in terms that are successfully presented as universal human concerns. Some art should be overtly political. But in general we need more showing and less telling.
A "both-sides" argument is most usually cast to deliberately benefit the worse side. It's a way of avoiding the inconvenience of caring, disguised as world-weary wisdom. https://twitter.com/LittlestTwin/status/1219970325955469314

I donʼt have strong feelings about gun laws. I donʼt think they would accomplish what the left wants them to, but I also donʼt understand the gun fetishism of the right. Unless you belong to a vulnerable group or have specifically been threatened, owning a gun for self-defense seems like poor risk assessment: slightly decreasing the probability of violent death by stranger while considerably boosting the likelihood of violent death by an accident, a known party, or yourself.
there is no reason to play blame games on this airliner. You can blame Iran for utter incompetence. You can blame Trump for triggering this escalation. The Iranians didn’t mean for this to happen and neither did Trump.
But there is a lesson. War is never cost free.

If 1024 fair coins are each tossed 10 times, chances are good (> 63%) that at least one will come up heads 10 times in a row; and that coin will be proud to explain how its skill, faith, guts & determination made its achievement possible, and how that combo can work for you too.
