I don't know what it is going to take to get people in the streets, but I fear it will be too late by then. Maybe I'm naive to think it could be stopped with a something like a general strike.
Concentration camps, passport denials, freezing assets, nazi flags being waved in the streets and somehow, still, people are waiting for the 'real' fascism to start to do something about it.
Anarchist spaces have long harbored abusive people. Some of this is dysfunction, the folly of people with little at stake believing that all others can take care of themselves just as they can. Individuals, not community, is where they believe power rests.
When done well, the community is engaged, aware, and open about the presence of these people. This is not the whispered clue about the missing stair, but active engagement in the community's health, which implies the health of its members.
Worked with violent people myself long ago (believe it or not they were group home counselors for "emotionally disturbed adolescents") and they would lie through their teeth after reporting them for their actions. Lie about what they did then make up smears and lies about you, the person who reported the violence.

If you're waiting for a clear marker dividing the moment before and after the US went full fascist, you'll be waiting in a camp yourself. Fascism creeps in. If you aren't fighting it yet, and aren't speaking out about it yet, get with the program.
lol, I checked. It’s gone :)
Tempted to go back onto Twitter to check if my account has actually been deleted (I haven’t logged back in after deactivating for almost 2 months now), but I actually think I’m fine with just assuming it’s been done.
I’ve quarantined myself pretty effectively, and haven’t clicked on any links that would take me back to the site. I have to be tough on myself in the early stages, and appreciate how much time I’ve reclaimed for myself by being away.
