Which leads me to think that perhaps there should be a portal for thumbnailers, since there are not a few applications that would benefit from this. It would also help Totem to be a Flatpak, and therefore be easily replaceable by any other application if the user doesn't like it.

Then apps like Totem or Evince must clearly come as "part of the system", since otherwise a valuable functionality is lost: the thumbnailer

At first I thought that all the apps that were pre-installed in the GNOME OS image would be the ones that should come as part of the system, but then apps like Boxes work better in Flatpak than as "part of the system".

Can someone point me out which GNOME apps are supposed to come as part of the system instead of Flatpak? 🤔

Progress report for Replay! Working again on UTLib, the YouTube Data API client library for Vala that I'm developing in order to provide the YouTube backend to my app.

There's a lot of things that are just, fine, things that I want to change and things that I need to document 😅

Maybe in a few days I would be able to update the repo :)

Vala needs better support for JSON. JSON-GLib isn't really enough, since it doesn't have support for Gee collections, and its syntax is quite complicated to use.

I found GJson, a JSON library for Vala with support for Gee collections, but its quality still has a lot of room for improvement, and its license isn't very friendly to closed source projects
