Hey, New #mastodon account here. I have been going down the rabbit hole of #fediverse and #opensource since yesterday. Still so much to learn but #decentralized social media makes so much sense! We need this movement to grow!

New users typically like to post an #Introduction post, littered with hashtags that are related to their interests so that others with similar interests can find easily. A lot of instances can still only search with hashtags so it helps your posts be seen by those instances.

@namairre it takes a bit more work than the centralized social media services, and some people say it feels deserted, but that’s because they don’t have some algorithm force feeding them. But if you put in the work to find your people and the things that interest you, I’ve found my timeline filled up pretty fast.
