Seriously, have you *ever* said yes to some website’s request to send you notifications?
@kd0bpv I'm thinking more of the thousands of blog-news sites which immediately pop up with 'PLEASE GIVE US YOUR EMAIL SO YOU CAN GET THE LATEST'
*** NUCLEAR ORBITAL NOPE STRIKE ***
@natecull speaking of... I really hope mine isn't doing that bs...
@kd0bpv I assume some 'MAXIMISE YOUR CONVERSIONS' seminar or book or something has told everyone to do this
without actually checking if it, y'know, *works*
@natecull On Mastodon and discord, yes. But killed those, because they where getting annoying.
@natecull My employer, for some unknown reason, set Chrome to automatically say "yes" to any website that wants to send notifications. And it's locked down in the administrator settings, so I can't turn it off.
Why would someone think that's a good idea? It seems like an invitation for malware. Someone just has to visit the wrong site, maybe even by accident, and BOOM! the whole network could be infected.
@natecull yes. I let Mastodon give me notifications. That's about all, though.
