I wonder how many people are in my position where I'd love to change the instance but I don't want to start all over again. Account migration would be nice, I think somebody already proposed this on GitHub
@nerdblogpl just gotta suck it up and move, post a few times to your previous account and hope your followers come with

@nerdblogpl I'm already experiencing instance FOMO because new ones are popping up frequently! What happens if an instance goes offline permanently or an admin disappears? There needs to be a method of transfer that would maintain the history/followers.
@tylerrobb no matter what you do it will not solve the problem of dead links though, or at least I can't think of any that would be safe

@nerdblogpl So usernames are only unique within an instance, and outside the instance they're referred to as @username@instancename?
So if you moved instances you're basically starting again? Makes joining smaller instances kind of risky and allows for a lot of confusion with identity...
@Ryan09 that's how I understood it works, might be wrong though, I only found time to glimpse at the GitHub, not dive into it
@nerdblogpl I was under the impression that once all the tweaks are done and bugs are fixed, your account will live on all instances. Might have been me being presumptuous though.
@CurlyHooligan if it would be possible to log in with your @foo account on @bar instance it would be nice but I'm not sure if that's the direction they're aiming for
