Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. ~ Anne Lamott

Microsoft tried to block Office macros by default. Now they're rolling back that change. I'm guessing it Did Not Go Well.

(the entire corporate world is run by tiny, forgotten Excel spreadsheets and Word documents in dusty corners loaded full of macros, that perform essential business automation that IT don't know about.)

Meet Sugar, she doesn't like to be ridden. If Sugar is approached with a saddle she lyes down and pretends to be asleep. Sugar refuses to open her eyes until the riders leave.

From stopping autoplay videos in their tracks to reducing the system burden on your PC, there’s plenty to love about this browser.

The second and third words of the Second Amendment are "well regulated". Why are we still arguing about this. We're not trying to take all the guns. Gun Control is about being well regulated.

If a Brown person walked into a Whole Foods and shot 5 people, every article and news report in America would use the word "terrorist" in the first paragraph of the report. Why are we calling things "tragic shootings"? It's domestic terrorism.

Ah, but they don't explain it over and over. They yell at you for not reading the pinned messages. Or not using the search feature. Or let their "community" explain it over and over for them.

Love this passion site:

Yes, please do this and send me the bill. I'm ready

Its funny what gets creative things unstuck. Found some really nice generic blog post outlines which give me enough structure to sit down and put my thoughts into some coherent form. Now, lets see if I can actually stick with it.

The CryptoCrash might divert some funds into technologies which aren't just get-rich-quick pyramid schemes. This might be just wishful thinking though. #ShowerThoughts

I live in Texas. Thanks to the 5th Circuit Court, things are about to get even crazier here than they have been.

FYI for newbies

Twitter has algorithms to get you engaged. Mastodon does not. So in order to enjoy Mastodon you have to take some time to reach out and find content and follow folks that you enjoy. Don't expect Mastodon to send you random popular posts to keep you engaged, you have to curate your own feed. But this is good! It gives you control.

Imagine being wealthy enough to end world hunger with your spare change...saying you would, then deciding to buy the bird site **instead**.

In the next few month we will invest significantly into Nextcloud Social to make it a full member of the decentralised Mastodon open source fediverse using open standards like ActivityPub. Who wants to help and contribute?

Governments (correctly) observe that democracies need a free press, and they (correctly) observe that the news media is in trouble, and they (correctly) conclude that monopolies in the tech sector have something to do with this.

Then they come to the (alarmingly wrong) conclusion that the way to resolve all these issues is to create a new paracopyright that lets news companies charge for the right to talk about the news.
