Although I like XMPP, and Conversations is pretty good these days with default end-to-end encryption, I reckon that the future of messaging apps has to be peer to peer. That's the only way to stop bogus bureaucrats trying to prevent people from communicating. A government which fears people chatting is a pretty good indicator of its lack of legitimacy.

#Coreboot question for the #fediverse
I want to upgrade Coreboot on my #Thinkpad X230 using internal flashing. But I've run across the " -p internal:laptop=force_I_want_a_brick" option on flashrom which has given me pause.
Now my understanding from the #flashrom man page is that some danger here comes from the EC residing on the same chip as the rest of the BIOS, which isn't true on the X230. But I don't have a sense of how dangerous or not the procedure actually still could be.
