for the best results, treat those you work with as peers not subordinates (particularly when they are *not* your subordinate)

A rainy Saturday at AsciiTeam headquarters...

I can't bring myself to play any Mass Effect or KotOR games again (I've played them all dozens of times), but I am still jonesing for some good sci-fi RPGs. Any suggestions?

Has anyone created a gmail plugin that enables you to create meaningful, sequentially applied mail rules?

Sixteen years ago today, on the Ides of March, I enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard. I can't imagine how different things would be if I hadn't challenged myself to sign up.

Just finished Dragon Age: Inquisition. It was good, but it took so long to complete _once_ that I have no appetite for another play-through.

Not sure what to start next, either. Maybe it's a good time to take a break from gaming for a while.

Crap I got stuck watching YouTube videos of people covering different video game themes. Now I have to go reinstall every game I've ever loved and replay _all of them_.

It's been neat to watch PWAs go from this weird thing the Chrome team was pushing, to a handful of "hello world" apps, to some impressive apps for emerging markets like Flipkart and Konga, to a mainstream thing that all browsers are embracing and big players like Twitter and Instagram are building for as well.

BTW fun fact: every Mastodon instance is its own PWA. 😁

Shipped a bunch of old gear to Gazelle for $$$. Trying to decide what to do with the proceeds. Maybe a chromebook? Some of the newer ones can: a) double as tablets and b) run Android apps. Might be fun to play around with something like that...

Today's NYTimes The Daily podcast was about Russia's continued social engineering of social networks, primarily Facebook. The ending was pretty bleak - the technology correspondent Michael Barbaro interviewed was saying things such as maybe we aren' t meant to be connected worldwide, he couldn't think of any solution.

Guys. Decentralization.

I was looking at the schedule for a local yoga studio this a.m. before I looked outside. Surprise -- I'll be taking a free "shovel the driveway" class instead :-/

I have a laptop computer addiction problem. Today I'm going to get off my butt and get most of these things cleaned up for Craig's List.

I have to give Apple props for the durability of their hardware. The oldest system I'm selling is a 2010 MacBook Pro. With an aftermarket upgrade to an SSD, it still hauls ass.

I don't normally drink beer out of a stein, but when I do, I use my Squirrel Stein.

By sending his own roadster to Mars, Elon Musk has set a new standard for evil geniuses everywhere. I feel like my fleet of drones brandishing switchblades was a total waste now.

It was time to ditch the beard. It's been so long that I barely recognize my own face.

Here's the article I wrote, it went live today:

Today I worked on honing my true craft: artisanal driveway salting and sanding, the way medieval craftsfolk used to do it.

It's supposedly Blue Monday so listening to some New Order. Prefer the 1983 version.
