I've noticed that in pretty much every debate about renewable energy there are those people who come into the debate with the pre-formed attitude "it can't work, it won't work". Usually, they base this attitude on a first-order analysis of the current CO2 emissions from electricity generation via renewables. There is not a good faith effort on their part as to how these problems with renewables can be solved. At the first sign of trouble, they are quick to cry "it can't work, it won't work"
Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.
As seen in Corona, NM. This has got to be an alien abduction joke, right? #NewMexico #NewMexicoTrue
Something weird is going on with the images. When I upload an image, it is auto-cropped in a really annoying way.
@Antanicus GAME OF BOOMERS: Inherit the richest, most technologically advanced society that has ever existed in all of history. Then use it to start new wars, kill millions, keep millions unnecessarily in poverty, literally destroy the planet committing mass ecocide, adamantly and selfishly refuse to enable the possibility of abundance for everyone, leaving the world in a state of disrepair that will take generations to get back to a livable state.
Blame the millennials for all of it.
White people always gotta bring up their Irish relatives who were also 'enslaved' whenever Black folks are talking about oppression.
Yo, don't do this. I don't give a fuck how bad you believe Irish people had it, and yes, it was bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to what happened to Black folks.
Even attempting to make that comparison is a really, really bad take.

Along with the #Mars2020 rover, @NASA@twitter.com is sending a helicopter to #Mars: https://go.nasa.gov/2GacKgq. The helicopter will fly ahead of the rover, checking out various possible points of interest and helping engineers back on Earth plan the best driving route.
Smartphones Are Killing The Planet Faster Than Anyone Expected
A new study from researchers at McMaster University analyzed the carbon impact of the whole Information and Communication Industry from around 2010-2020, including PCs, laptops, monitors, smartphones, and servers. They found remarkably bad news.
The bottom line is that we need to buy less, and engage less, for the health of this entire planet.
Twitter. You know. It's like Mastodon but centralized.
YouTube. Like PeerTube but centralized.
Facebook. Like Friendi.ca but centralized.
WhatsApp. Like Matrix but centralized.

Very neat video about a bike shop owner in Denver. #bike #bicycle #pedalpower
When a major appliance breaks is when you realize how much you truly depend on it.
NPR included a piece this morning on leaving Facebook, pros and cons of large networks, etc.
I'm posting because it included a snippet about Mastodon. It's short, about 1/3 to 1/2 way through, but it was there.
