I find this really impressive. It honestly wouldn't have occurred to me that roguelike games could be made playable for the blind. Very cool.

this is an excellent point about one advantage of decentralized systems that i hadn't thought about: https://icosahedron.website/users/chris_martin/updates/9678
Tip of the day:
You can bridge with Twitter so others can find you, and you can find them:
https://mastodon-bridge.herokuapp.com/
If you have the URL for a toot on another instance you can add it to the search bar on your home instance (above the compose field) to get your local interactions (boost, reply etc.)
As a human who has had the weird experience of studying at both halves of the Oxbridge thing... I find it strangely comforting that so many people here refer to Twitter as "the other place."
Some days, I really wish there were a "buy this person a beer" button on Stack Overflow...
Ok here is a handy map of the fediverse on GnuSocial. I would love to graph the others and see if there is any overlap.
Ok, so, it's now 8:30 in the morning, and I should clearly go to... uh... bed. (whoops) But I have to say that I've really enjoyed my first day here. Even though I'm a stranger, it feels cozier, and the ratio of signal to noise is great... having nice BBS flashbacks. (Bonus: no one made me answer stupid trivia questions about various colored boxes just to get part of a King's Quest III walkthrough...) ❤️
Ok, ok... let's see. I think I remember how being social worked before I got sucked down that Twitter rabbit hole... um, so, you guys want to join my web ring? Hm, not quite. Oh, I know! (Nailed it.)
So, It seems I can just give myself a green check mark. ✅Hmph. I wanted it to be the reward for embarking on a long, perilous, and (sometimes tedious) quest. You know, like finding One Eyed Willy's rich stuff, or becoming a Debian maintainer, or reading toots like this...
Ah, that exciting moment of starting out, surveying the landscape, and praying this doesn't turn into the next ello...
