Do NFTs have merits? No.

Do cryptocurrencies have merits? At least you can buy some stuff with it, like illegal downloads. As a speculation/investment at least they don’t pretend you own anything and they can’t just easily make more of it as with NFTs.

Does blockchain have merits? If you’re in search of a really slow and inefficient way to store data that also ruins the environment, yes.

The metaverse reminds me of how 10+ years ago I saw a keynote speech from the CEO of Second Life who was convinced it was going to be "the future of business" because people could meet virtually

To demonstrate he showed a screenshot where people were watching a stream of a real-world presentation from inside Second Life and one of the people watching was a Dalek

@jk I did get about halfway into a python script that pasted all of Knee Deep in the Dead into a single map and retagged lines to eliminate tag number collisions, but the actual transition points are tricky.

Huge dub to github.com/dgilman/gspread_asy it's almost perfectly a drop-in replacement for gspread that supports asyncio with caching. It's amazingly useful.

new funniest thing about modern web shittiness: a website displaying "We can't actually show this content because you're blocking ads :(" while, simultaneously, having the content being blocked visible and absolutely clickable beneath that content.
