#introductions Hi, I'm James–UK #illustrator #mentalhealth struggler #zine fan+ #crab enthusiast. I like noodle soup, I have a broad+extremely trivial knowledge base. @Damage is my primary partner+carer!
Most of my life has been thrown off the standard course by being bedbound for years after I was diagnosed w/severe #CFSME @ 14. I'm better but in the midst of a long #relapse after getting a degree.

@paralithode Honestly this is why you are so appreciated in my timeline. You set a good tone.
@paralithode I've got a friend in the Cleveland area who rescues hermit crabs that people buy as pets and then give up on. Not sure if she does it any more, but for a while she had eight of them.
ok phew! sorry friends if that was a bit spammy, I remade my intro posts to fix the dead image links & slightly spruce things up–a good opportunity to add my ko-fi link too! :3 Please boost my renewed message of peace, love & unusually large crab throughout the fediverse! 🦀💌☮️
and if you have pinned posts w/images older than a few months, maybe check & see if you might want to renew yours too~
PS, describing that demon illo had me thinking to myself "hell yeah this rules, so metal''
"greyscale tonal ink illustration of a somewhat masculine demonic figure w/two faces merging at 90° to each other–one monstrous, the other smooth & sensuous. A tangled crown of seven smouldering horns rises from their brow. They have three arms, one massive & stony, two slim, dark-furred & many-clawed, black hairy caprine legs & a long furry spade-tipped tail. There are shackles around 3 of their limbs."
"A tangled crown of seven smouldering horns rises from their brow" is honestly a whole aesthetic just by itself...& or a really good name for a drone band
@paralithode seeing as your my first follow of a fellow 🇬🇧, I'll have to get you a picture of a Cornish 🦀 hello to @Damage too✌️
@iMarco loving that shot! I was in Devon I know, I know, I'm sorry!) for university, & always regretted that I couldn't get out more to see the gorgeous landscape of the south west!
@paralithode I let it slide😉, what did you study?
@iMarco I was in the illustration programme at Plymouth university :>
@paralithode pretty good uni for creative arts /illustration and graphic design.
@iMarco yeah! it was a great environment and a real surprise to me, because I was totally in the dark when applying–I was a disabled adult student with little ability to travel and no-one to recommend anything. Plymouth was a blind shot to fill up the fifth spot on the form...as luck would have it nowhere else was interested, & I ended up in a fairly ideal environment. One of the few illustration courses in the UK that gives you a dedicated desk for 2 of the 3 years!
@paralithode that's a pretty cool result. I know the uni climbed in status because of it's courses. I studied product and industrial design do had to move away.
Hello, & thank you so much to everyone who's decided to follow me, new friends & long-standing companions! I'm grateful for the time & space you've given me in your social media ecosystem. I hope to bring good & valuable things to your timeline.
If you see me post about anything you'd like me to CW for, or if there's anything I'm doing you'd like me to do less or more of, please let me know & I'll do my best to improve!
