But at the time, the problems were either not obvious to the design team (e.g the discoverability issue was supposed to be alleviated by the "getting started" videos and user habits) or they were deemed less important than the problems the app menu was designed to fix in the first place.
Design is not an exact science, it turned out to be a mistake, and we're trying to find something else.
