making the ten-point case that Lady Elaine Fairchild from Mister Rogers Neighborhood was — at minimum — a cis representation of an old drag queen, but more than likely she was trans af

she was:

1) intimidating to all the cis people & puppets
2) archivist & curator for a mysterious museum no one's actually seen inside
3) a worldly sage
4) sassy & cranky
5) the cis trope of being aesthetically unattractive
6) indisputably a witch
7) a court jester: she could get away giving lip to King Friday XIII w/o fear of a beheading
8) timeless & ageless
9) fierce
10) perpetually single

masto is still light-years better than birber don't @ me

@what yes i would like very much for nine inch nails to play my child's birthday party. also i'd like to get the insane clown posse to come over because what child doesn't love clowns at their birthday party amirite

though i'm not on here a bunch, it's weird watching the follower count here drop a lot. i imagine it might be related to bots and blocked instances

if you find that your remarks here tend to be pretty toothless, you should probably book a consult appointment with a mastodontist

today in vaguetoot:

i'm not a member of tusktag team followback and idk why you are 💁🏽

i'll still come by here and check on stuff from time to time. my toothbrush here will be sticking around of course, but i'm definitely finding witches.town more my jam :)

YOU DON'T NEED TO FORCE YOUR CITIZENS INTO BEING PROUD OF LIVING IN YOUR COUNTRY IF YOU GIVE THEM VALID REASONS TO LIKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE

over the weekend my visiting friend and i talked about the basic logistics of starting a new instance. with the way federation propagates, the indeterminate data costs involved around that, and so on, this might not be happening anytime soon despite some nifty domain name ideas

so i think i'm probably going to move my regular toothbrush over to witches.town — @patience — where i already have a parked account, even tho i'm not very witchy (even tho i'm a trans woman)

my favourite thing we did at a co-op conference many years ago was we hand-created our own beeswax candlesticks using sheets of beeswax dyed in the seven colours of the Rochdale Principles.

i'd love to find more sheets of that beeswax again and make a new batch 🌈 👍🏽

the language used for the sign reflected the 1995 principles, and these days would benefit from altering language like "men and women" to "people".

i'd wholeheartedly encourage such amendments if you're thinking about doing something like this sign for your co-op!

for anyone looking at launching or formalizing co-ops:

co-operatives began at Rochdale in 1844. since 1995, Rochdale's values are comprised of 7 principles of co-operation, keyed to seven colours.

we made this colourful sign for our housing co-op a few years ago. we mounted it next to every dwelling's bulletin board. it's a great daily reminder of why we organise, cultivate, and believe in co-ops.

feel free to copy, print and distribute!
