I think the normal experience of waiting up to 2-3 minutes for gobs of #JavaScript to load and display the page has changed that expectation. If someone's computer or software is a little older or their connection is a little slower, that person may never experience the snappy feeling that devs seem to believe their script-heavy sites produce.

@lnxw48a1 Agreed. It doesn't help that web devs tend to use top-of-the-line MacBook Pros when they develop. ;) I'm a huge proponent of the responsible use of modern JS in the browser, but responsible is the key word
