How to run Mastodon as an independent web app on Windows:

1. Open Chrome
2. “More tools” -> “Add to desktop ...”
3. Right-click the desktop shortcut created
4. Click “pin to taskbar”

You now have your own Mastodon app you can open and close independent of Chrome. mastodon.social/media/ojS8wMkt

The same works very well for YouTube and Twitch btw.

You should be able to do the same with Fluid.app [fluidapp.com] on macOS.

I mean, you could do the same with Chrome on macOS, but the browser tends to eat MacBook batteries for breakfast, so you’ll probably want to run it in Safari.

Hmm, linkification seems to be a bit strict so here’s the url: fluidapp.com.
