Microblogging peaked when Tumblr peaked. I'm surprised no one has made an app that adjusted the #Mastodon feed to look more like #Tumblr (content ABOVE the caption, + text only posts, reblog comments BELOW original content, etc).
I saw @dansup was heading that direction in OG #pixelfed days years back, but more #Instagram style later.
But yo, #Fediverse - what do you think? Do you miss peak Tumblr? Am I crazy?
@renwillis @dansup I just saw a post that said Tumblr is migrating to WordPress and plans to enable ActivityPub but haven't confirmed it 
This was confirmed in an event today by @pfefferle - but no timeline was communicated or exists.
@pfefferle @JohnnyThan @haubles @dansup yes, but I’m strictly talking feed UI. Mastodon is build like twitter. Caption then embeded content like a photo. Reblogs are on TOP of the original content. Why?
Why not Content on top, followed by caption. Reblogs go underneath and are threaded. I don’t want a tumblr account. I just want my Mastodon account, but visually more like how tumblr USED to be back during it’s peak (pre-yahoo/verizon)
@renwillis I think it would be doable for someone to make a different UI that would fit your desire. There are already a multitude of UI, either as a website or client app or PWA.
I remember using one that would mimic the Twitter UI, to be familiar to those who migrate. There's also Elk. Shouldn't be too hard for someone to fork one of these projects to make the changes that you desire!

@renwillis Yeah true. I know of other fediverse projects with different UI. From memory, there's Misskey and Akoma and Friendica, but I haven't tried them much myself.
I guess it means there is room for more experimentations!
