@phryk It definitely contributed greatly to its modern conception! (It's also an opinion made by Julie Angel in several of her works, like Breaking the Jump.) I guess you've seen pictures of Evry and the Dame du Lac?

@ninjawedding I haven't and please tell me more, but first I need to go grocery shopping ^^;

It's not quite the all-right-angles thing that Brutalism is known for, but it does share e.g. the characteristics of rawness and specifically delineated zones. A lot of Évry (and Lisses in specific) has that modular, dense feel also.

There are also a few places around me that have characteristics like this (not nearly as dense, but still rich with possibility) -- usually on things like college campuses. They're great places to train movements.

@ninjawedding

Yeah, exactly this sort of architecture is usually what comes to my mind when someone mentions parkour.

But I only realized today that it not only is a nice architectual fit to the art, but both also seem to have arrived at roughly the same time. :)

@phryk I think you'd love Breaking the Jump (assuming you haven't read it already) :)

@ninjawedding Will keep it in mind, but the kindles' display is currently bork^^

@ninjawedding I think I've actually seen that thing in some parkour documentary. :P
