Trying to move around and look in the right direction in #FreeCAD makes me feel like a goddamn toddler on shrooms.
Not like we figured out how to easily traverse virtual 3D spaces like thirty years ago, right?
I continue to be thoroughly frustrated by CAD programs foregoing first-person shooter controls in favor of literally the most hare-brained control schemes I have ever encountered anywhere.
FreeCAD even lets you choose between half a dozen input schemes – and they're ALL. HORRIBLE. /o\
@thegibson It's doubly frustrating given that I see massive potential in FreeCAD – if it ever implements an assembly workbench and gets out of the eternal alpha phase…
But given how things currently look, I might actually go for openSCAD after all because there I can be sure that I can actually create a fully parameterizable version of my project.
FreeCAD kind of promises being able to do that in a WYSIWYG GUI way, which is arguably way more accessible, but ultimately doesn't seem to deliver…😔
@phryk INORITE!?!
