Foldable progress.

I think this already illustrates pretty well why I want the thing to be foldable – just gives you so much more space.

@phryk - Have you looked into using tents or yurts?

@tinker Yes, absolutely uninteresting. I want something that's reproducible on an industrial scale and is actually useful.

Tent/yurt would just be an absolute clusterfuck since I plan on literally tons of battery storage, PV, IT infrastructure, ACTUAL PLUMBING, etc…

The thing I design, I can just fold up, put on a low-bed trailer and have it towed wherever, no big hassle.

A yurt might've been my tinyhome of choice if we were back in the times when horses were the main mode of transportation…

@tinker

I mean, of course it's a bigger logistic effort because you need a low-bed and possibly a crane – but with the amount of tech/infra I'm planning to integrate, having to rip apart all the infra, load it up, and re-assemble it on arrival is

a) way too much hassle for it to count as even remotely mobile

b) putting extra stress on the tech which I'd like to avoid, since I'll be depending on it.

@tinker

Also: MOTHERFUCKING ROOF TERRACE! \o/

@phryk - Hahahaha! That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see it!

The most relevant question of course remains: Will it survive a T-Rex attack? :thaenkin:

@phryk
Needs some robot-turrets with Lasers then. For self defense. Of course. Absutely necwssary and in no way overkill. *cough*

@thunfisch Well, I have to say I *am* tempted to build in bear protection (basically a big electroshocker connected to the structures skeleton). but really some kid'll kill itself with that because of sheer stupidity and then I'm the villain again. >:(

@phryk
Is natural selection not a valid defense anymore?

@thunfisch I too was shocked (SHOCKED!) to learn that it apparently never was.
