Mastodon does not, and it has a big problem now.
@drq I wouldn't say Mastodon has a big problem, in fact they have done a pretty good job scaling up and being able to handle that level of traffic.
Separating local and remote data makes no sense, if you want data durability and integrity, implement backups and clean out older posts/media.

That's not the point. The point is, I don't want to keep other servers' junk forever like I do my server's junk.
