The Fediverse is all about interconnection.
Although matrix is federated, it is not part of the same universe as it doesn't support activityPub.
In my view that's an exclusion criterion.

Matrix *can* speak ActivityPub as well, it just needs a bridge. I think there has been work on that front already.

@jeena matrix it not part of the fediverse. if you include matrix you would have to include anything that federates like email or xmpp

@tassoman It's opt-in, you have to add the #fedi22 hashtag to your bio for it to work!

What about data retention? I didn't found any explicit policy about it. What if anyone changes their mind?

One more thing, the website is styled cool but difficult to read for visual defected people

For example, on pixelfed.social : there's no way to browse the accounts. And even if you find one, where is the Follow button ?
