The blurhash functionality will make the experience on a slow connection much better, and the app will feel smoother thanks to it 😊
Thanks @dansup for implementing this on the server side :)
Also coming soon: 1️⃣ PixelDroid will stop you from trying to put more pictures in a single post than your server supports, and 2️⃣ warn you if an image is too big (option to compress in those cases is on the TODO list). 3️⃣ You will be able to see all the images of a profile, instead of just the first images
The beta release should be released in production very soon.
If you use 2FA with #Pixelfed, don't hesitate to give it a try and share your feedback.
It's disabled by default, to enable public discover on your instance, update to the latest commits and add `INSTANCE_DISCOVER_PUBLIC=true` to your .env file.
The Pixelfed forum will be launched with the mobile apps and feature a Mobile App Support category for support and to better organize feedback during the beta.
Best part is the forum supports ActivityPub, so you can reply to threads without having to register an account! (We'll open source the forum shortly after)
I've revised my plans for the Pixelfed mobile apps in light of what Google Play did to Element*.
Will be adding some last minute changes before we publish the beta release.
For #Fdroid users, just use our custom repo, for Google users, you can join the beta channel in the app description.
Also, for reporting bugs, don't hesitate to opt-in to bug reports (from settings).
⚠️ Please review the release instructions, instance admins will need to update accordingly or federation support may break!
The labels will contain a link to reputable heath organizations including the World Heath Organization. Admins will be able to set a custom link for regional heath organizations or use the default WHO link. Admins will be able to disable this feature, it will be enabled by default.
