I'm testing Mint 19 with Cinnamon in a VM this morning. I haven't used Mint since Mint 12. It's a lot more refined and elegant than I remember. Unless there's an ugly secret in here somewhere, I can see this as a daily driver. I'm using MATE right now, for reference.
@mike Ha, ha. MATE is so solid. I'd hate to leave it for a pretty distro but I might. Happy hopping.
@thinkMoult @kev @mike Thanks. Multiple desktop environments work and I've done that in the past but it tends to get a little messy. At least for me there will be a problem or two that will crop up. Lately I test them in a VM and when I find one worthy I put it on bare metal. Thanks!
@pla1 Yea, I'm the first to admit that I used to HATE KDE. HATED it. But I finally relented and gave it another spin after years of avoiding it, and it's turned into a really nice DE. it seems like picking a DE these days is a really difficult choice. There's so many good options out there. I'm using MATE right now, and before that I was using Gnome. Before that was MATE again. Before that was XFCE and before that LXDE. I just hop around like a toddler on espresso.
