Hey admins, this is where you have to make a decision now, on how to deal with other admins who are a danger to your own users.

Are your protecting your users, or playing politics to keep chummy with instances?

The rules that bind the fediverse or fostering the communities the fediverse is intended to create -

which one will be preserved and which one will break?

Which is it

@plsburydoughboy I'm not really aware about masto instances work, but I think that admins can choose where instance to link or not…

@ClovisGauzy some admins are in fact blocking other instances, and this is what people have already been debating about

@ClovisGauzy some people don't think blocking whole instances is right. You should talk to your admin about this to learn more, I only know so much about it

@plsburydoughboy don't forget admins' responibilities. ;)
I have a position about that, but it must be easier to me to explain in french… ><

@ClovisGauzy I mean, the admin we're talking about who did the harassment here broke his own rules

@plsburydoughboy if admin don't take is responsibility front of own users who don't respect rules/laws, it's the reponsibility to others instances' admins to protect own users.

@plsburydoughboy this is a terrible false dichotomy. there is clearly room for a real discussion rather than circling the wagons.

@plsburydoughboy
There absolutely is. These situations evolve way to quickly to be simplified down to a binary 'us vs them'. Forcing a decision is a tactic that ignores the complexities of your fellow humans in favor of politically expediency.

Likewise dismissing a dissenting opinion with a 'NOPE LMAO" doesn't exactly instill one with the confidence that the position has been thought out to a degree reasonably supportive such finality.

@Irick @plsburydoughboy Or maybe it's that not every dissenting opinion needs to be validated with debate.
