I'm at "the kids want communism" exhibition in Berlin. It is very full. And among many others Bini is showing drawings from Communism for Kids.
@rhythmgoddesss
Also interesting are pictures from early Israeli Communist movements.

> The relatively high number of Millennial households in poverty partly reflects the fact that the poverty rate among households headed by a young adult has been rising over the past half century while dramatically declining among households headed by those 65 and older.

no rly. I wonder if there's something about voting patterns and policies enacted that might explain that.

Having ridden out a couple hurricanes during my years living in Florida, please get yourself as safe as you can if you are in the projected path of Irma, friends. You are worth more than your stuff.

@er1n @tcql

a young monk approached a master and said "master I'm having trouble understanding Rust lifetimes."

the master handed the monk a rubber duck pulled from his robe, but said not a word.

The monk thought he understood what the master wanted, and spoke his problem aloud to the duck. Afterwards he had no more understanding of his problem, and looked at the master quizzically.

The master snatched the duck away and returned it to his robe.

At that moment the young monk was enlightened.

One of my friends and I have often lamented that there is a space in the Republican party for a non-libertarian to play - someone who is cautious and careful about social change, not particularly prone to war, not fearful of spending nationally. Trump partially filled that role, but the essential Trumpiness is a terrible thing.....

anyway, it seems that the essential Trumpiness is biting the GOP. The big Q to me is if the GOP will go nationalist or not........

Heh, posted Coates' latest article to Facebook with a "worth reading". I wonder what response I'll get....

A friend of mine remarked today: internet comment sections are about enough to make me believe in the Total Depravity doctrine of Calvinism, particularly when race is involved.

Facebook has the nearly most vicious political discourse I've ever seen. All under real names.

That PA "anonymous" theory of creating jackasses isn't looking too good these days.

Gender reveal parties are creepy. Spread the word.

the heat is hot, the sun is orange.

I think we're moving into a new, more Laundry Files-esque timeline.

Thrice in the past week I've run into the concepts that (1) taxation is theft, (2) private property ought to be "allodial". That all is to say, broadly: "government does not have the right to govern".

I am mildly at a loss for how this has become a desired state for Americans. Do you *want* a general breakdown of society? Really? You think that's ideal, as you sit in your fancy rich house? (or in your coop?).

*The* innovation of the past 300 years is _working government_.

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. [....] Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord.. This September weekend is hot and muggy in Seattle. The air feels pregnant with something as the news travels.

Humidity beads up on the water bottle, and the A/C is on full blast in the main bedroom.
