Wow, thanks Google.
Y'all made it easier by giving me a deadline.
I stopped uploading to Google Photos since January as a part of my resolution to #degoogle this year. Its about time to purge all 15,000 photos and archive my account (almost 10gigs) i.e. June 1st 2021.
Then the only thing I'll directly rely on Google is for YouTube (NewPipe). I later plan to block it all at the DNS level.
I was foolish to trust their AI with my photos in the first place smh. Better late than never.
If you don't keep uploading your photos then we'll delete em. If you keep uploading then you'll reach that limit then eventually you'd pay us to keep all your photo, if you don't? we'll delete em.
@polarhive I don't think that they really delete them.Google deletes nothing. They just hide them,so you can't use them anymore but keep it saved for the purpose of spying on you or if the NSA wants them.
@polarhive Sometimes Google does the right decisions for us.You should thank them.Blocking Google on a DNS level is a very good idea. That's how I started, too. Now I block them on a IP level so it also includes new domains and stuff at Google Cloud servers.
@polarhive I've started using wget in the terminal instead of downloading via browser. Especially for large files. For some reason FF likes to stop downloading at some point.
