Just got ads on Instagram for homeowners loans, Kraft cheese and 5 hour energy after talking about them within the last 24 hours or mentioning topics that would imply their relevance.
Immediately uninstalled.
Hey how do I set up RSS to post to Tooter automatically? Got some posts I want to auto-toot
And this is how we create better tech. Not just by running away to more and more obscure platforms, but by organizing political power among tech workers to demand software be created on our terms, not those of share holders:

Instead of squirrels being the cultural icon for making people paranoid that the government is following them it's gonna be ads now.
Mind you I think there's power in creating all these frameworks. We just need to confront the physical reality that I'm not ever going to be able to afford the space and hardware for my own server because I don't get paid shit.
So is there anyone in the federated server space movement out there talking about organizing to open up servers at local libraries or other public funding?
Or are we still stuck at the hippy commune phase of things where people are expected to recede into the wild and create their perfect society without confronting the dictates of capital that forced them to leave in the first place and will eventually crush their projects if not confronted directly?
Can #pixelfed allow people to look at photos without an account? Makes it feel less likely that it'll suffer from vendor lock in down the line.
That and I want to be able to send shit to my friends. At least with Mastodon people don't need an account if I send them a link to a post with global visibility
Alternatively it could just be me
Pro-tip: when you link to Twitter, those of us on Mobile without an account get a generic bullshit "time out" error in an attempt to force you to make an account.
If you could be so kind as to quote the text in question that'd help. I know you can just request the desktop site but I'm too lazy lol.
Anyway, just in case y'all don't know.

Kansas is dusty
Yup
Hey so does anyone know how I can make a living doing computer shit while also making the world a better place instead of just coding for finamce capital?
Not desperate enough to sell my soul but curious on how to support myself while supporting other people as a job.
I know Linux, python, rudimentary html/css and can learn shit pretty quickly.
Is there a #federated or #decentralized platform for meet ups yet? Like meetup.com
@jsalvador oye, no más para que sepas, no funciona la enlace de tu perfil! Un saludo de EE.UU
Well I might be an idiot if WordPress is already decentralized whoops lol. Still doing research
Hey so I'm new to the #decentralized / #federated services thing. People should throw shit my way that's worth using.
So far I've found:
-Mastadon (duh lol)
-Matrix (using riot.im)
-Diaspora (have yet to try)
-MaidSafe (have yet to try)
-RSS
-XMPP
Want to find replacements for:
-YouTube
-Wordpress
-Snapchat
-Google docs
Feel free to send other things not explicitly listed except the latest FadCoin®. Don't care about market bullshit. Eventually I'd like to make easy to access video tutorials.
